2014 Vette! And we got the sneak peek shots
Well it looks like Jalopnik got their hands on the exclusive rending for the new 2014 vette. Seems like it’s getting a skylineish back styling’ to it. Love it or hate it, it’s coming. And from the design specs of it. It looks like it’s the ZR1 Trim, (according to Jalopnik). As they say, someone is getting fired over this one. Enjoy the pics after the break.
Toxic Risks in Tuner Cars
Guest Writer: Brian Turner
Toxic Risks in Tuner Cars
Tuner cars represent the beast of all modified cars with enhanced engines, upgraded suspension and turbocharged speed for the racing enthusiast. These cars are specially designed by knowledgeable automotive experts to glean peak performance. A regular coupe, sedan or utility vehicle can be transformed into a mighty machine by a skilled mechanical genius. The end result of a suped-up tuner car is an adrenaline-pumping monster machine that has visual appeal and an engine roar.
Gifted mechanics involved in the transformation of regular cars into the turbo-beast tuner are at a high risk for exposure to toxic substances. Specifically, the substances benzene and asbestos are used in the enhancement parts of tuner cars. Benzene is a virtually colorless yet flammable liquid used in trace amounts in the production of rubber, plastic or lubricants for the car parts. When heated, benzene emits a toxin that cannot only pollute the air but also your lungs. Overexposure to benzene also causes cancer to humans, particularly mesothelioma and cancer of the blood-forming organs in the body. Asbestos, a group of mineral fibers that are resistant to heat, fire and chemicals are used in the production of some car parts, including brake pads and clutch plates. When asbestos is heated, tiny particle molecules are emitted through the air and can enter the lungs. Asbestos is equally hazardous to health as benzene when overexposure occurs.
Although the standard car might not contain mass amounts of toxic chemicals, the tuner car, being enhanced with high-performance parts, might be subject to emitting the toxic byproducts of chemicals like benzene and asbestos. Those most at risk for regular exposure to the harmful substances are mechanics and consumers of tuner cars. This is particularly the case if the ventilation system of the tuner car has been modified in any way. Part of the modification process is removal of the insulating pieces of the exhaust, which would normally make the sound of the car less noticeable. However, tuner cars are known for performance, visual appeal and raging sounds heard miles down the block. The consequence of such sounds is the risk of removing the protective elements of the car parts that prevent benzene vapors from polluting the air at high rates.
Heed caution in building or using modified cars like the tuner car. Unless you know the exact specifications of each modified part, there is no telling the amount of toxins you might get subjected to from the tuner car.

Death of the Ford Crown Victoria. End of an era.

Well when you say “Crown Vic” first thing you think about is quickly putting on your seat belt because your going to get pulled over. We know, it happens to the best of us. But today does mark an end of an era. After 32 years of production. Today in the Candian assembly line rolled off the last V8 beast. No other car has truly proven itself as durable, and having one as a taxi appear in last weeks Top Gear, with 190,000 miles, and still running strong. The “Vic” was truly the face of an American dream.
From taxis, to police cars, to DT cars, and even some limo places have grown to love, and depend on these cars, but as everything in life, all good things come to an end. In the aftermarket scene, the vic is now slowly getting modded, by tuners, and hot rodders from around the US. And let’s not forget the Vic’s loved family member the Mercury Marauder, which is also soon to be a collectors item.
Here’s to 32 years of moving forward.

New Jersey lines up for the F1 bid!
Well it’s nice to see the home town doing something productive. Possibly even bringing in some more traffic on the street. The mayors of Weehawken and West New York said Tuesday that they were in the early stages of talks with investors to bring the F1 event here in 2013. If this is approved, the race would be the second US event for F1.
I personally am excited, but at the same time, I’m going to hate the traffic that day.

A determined owner saves his porsche from kentucky flood!
Now this is what I call being determined. This is something crazy I would probably do. A porsche owner who lived in a mansion at the end of a marina was let’s say a little too prepared, and actually had his rare porsche float to safety on what looks like a air dock for lifting boats!!! My hat is tipped to you sir, on giving us tuners ideas on how to save our pride and joys.
So question of the day. What is your rescue plan for your ride?? Post up in the comments, and enjoy the pics after the break
